Side Trip to Macau

If you have read my First glimpse abroad: Hong Kong post, then this would be the sequel. 😀 I’d just like to share more about this sophisticated place which has made me think of visiting it again. As a traveller, I don’t only give praise to how beautiful a place is but I also consider its history, culture, and of course, fooood! History wise, Macau has a lot of stories to tell. I wish we had an ample time to get to know Macau well, but time didn’t permit so. Imagine a 5-hour stay in a place where you know that there are plenty of good places to quench your thirst of learning, exploring, and adventure. How can you make the most out of such limited time? If you ask me, yes we did it! Thanks to my boyfriend’s efficient map. 😀

Took a ferry from Kowloon and got there not more than an hour.

~TurboJet~ Its cleanliness and being presentable took me by surprise. The crew were also nice.

Macau’s port really impressed me. Tourist-friendly if I’d name it. 😀

You won't get lost! Just check the signage. ;)

As soon as we got there, we had to rush out of the port and figure out the nearby places that we could see.

Oh-uh~ heavy traffic >_<
Oh-uh~ heavy traffic >_<

Yeah, that was a little unfortunate of us but it didn’t stop us from roaming around that little portion of Macau. We decided not to take a cab nor the bus. We wanted to see every detail of the place. So we walked and walked until our happy feet took us here….

~ Oceanus

A building with casino and gold statues.

They're not made of real gold. I know. lol :D

No. I didn't play it. :D

~ Residential units

They’re everywhere, almost. 😀

Such a shame I couldn't check what it looks like inside. >_<

~ Casinos

Did I already tell you that casinos are almost on every corner here? 😀

I wonder how many they are.. :D

~ Oh what’s this place? *shocked face*

Much to my surprise, I saw this and asked my boyfriend to follow me as I was really curious about this place. :D

We found this place but unfortunately, the whole shop was covered with some kind of paper sheets leaving a part of the door for me to see. Didn’t bother to go check the inside. Kind of embarrassing! LOL

~ Tulip Square

One of the tourist spots here. Don’t get surprised when you read some Portuguese here. Even the districts and streets are named in Portuguese.

My boyfriend was surprised when he heard me reading this. :D

I have to research why this flower is kind of significant here. :D

~ Macau Fisherman’s Wharf

Such a wide locale!

~ Macau Museum of Art

Broad and clean! However, it was still under renovation. Hmm~ this calls for a second visit, maybe? 😀

Hey! I really hope to see you again. ^_^

Had our lunch at a nearby restaurant. It was a little expensive for a local restaurant but the food left us saying “Oh my! So delicious!” again and again. 😀

One of the dishes we ordered and I must be honest, Dohyoung and I gobbled every piece of it.

After that sumptuous late lunch for two, we got back to our feet and continued walking a little more. This unique structure caught our attention. Sorry, I can’t tell whether it’s a mall or a sightseeing spot. 😀

We saw different shops in there. So I thought it was shopping mall with a unique design. :D

Guess what this building tried to replicate!

YES! The Colosseum! Pardon my not so very well framed photo. :D

All of a sudden, we forgot that we were in Macau..not in Rome. :D

As we noticed that our time in Macau was coming to an end, we headed our way back to the port. But wait~ we managed to stop by a cafe and tried this Hong Kong Iced Tea. ^_^

We enjoyed it! It was good to the taste! Not so sweet and we could really taste the tea. :D

Time to go back to HK~

It began to rain as soon as we sailed back to HK..

It was just a 5-hour excursion, yet I really had the best time of my life there. 🙂

  1. I’ve been to Macau first time last March. It was a weekend trip with a friend as I was vacationing in Hong Kong then. It’s a casino island. Each hotel I think has at least one operating casino. We went outside of our hotel and several buildings are stand alone casinos, too. What I love most in Macau is their food, the Portuguese influence over their pastries and other delicacies.
