Autumn Affair

You and me,

together in glee.

Here comes the time,

we no longer rhyme.

I see you fall,

as I remain standing tall.

Left with nothing,

but still breathing.

Time will come,

no more glum.

When autumn’s over,

see me with a new lover.

Would love to hear your interpretation of this poem. 🙂

  2. Several interpretations are possible: taken as it is, it’s a sad break up between two lovers. Felt more poetically, it’s a change that the beautiful season of autumn is calling for. And even deeper, the “new lover” is the new self that will come once winter has gone. In any case it’s romantic and carries the spleen so typical to autumn and its falling leaves.
